History
I originally wrote NAIPS for myself, then after a strong reply on pprune.org I decided to add a few things people would use and put it on the app store. I hope you enjoy, it took quite a while to make.
Be sure to check out the new screenshots section.

Is it, or will it, be possible to edit (add, delete or change) the Common Location details?
Great little app!
Cheers
Jim
Hi Jim,
You can delete them individually by swiping your finger, or delete all of them by pressing the trash icon in the top right. You can’t edit them, but they are automatically added whenever you search for something in Location Briefing. They are ordered by number of times used (top entry = most times submitted). Hope that helps,
Rowan.
Gday,
Just wondering if you will release a version for the 1st generation ipod touch… if not i guess i will just have to wait till i get an iphone.
cheers,
Alan
G’day Alan,
I don’t know much about ipod touch 1st generation so thought I’d be safe. I’ll enable it shortly.
I have been a user of this application ever since I purchased my iPhone last year. Recently I had to rebuild my computer hard drive and while syncing my iPhone during be rebuild in dumped all my purchased applications. Is there a way I can recover this application without buying it again?
Yep – if you download it from iTunes again it should be free. Apple takes care of all that for you.
Most impressed using your naips for iphone on a recent trip to Perth and later back to Sydney around the top way.
The last five times or so on submitting a VFR flight plan
the reply received reads only “Your flight notification as shown below has been accept” and nothing is shown below when previously a precis of the flight plan was shown.
Can the previous format be restored?
Thanks for a great app.
Harvey Prior
Hi Harvey I’m just wondering if you have the latest version 1.6.1 released about 1-2 weeks ago that should have fixed that problem? (you need to upgrade your phone to iOS4 first though since it will soon support iPad and I’ve had to discontinue support for OS3 and OS3.1)
The flight plans started cutting off like that when the airservices naips started spitting out different code for some reason. My program looks for the [pre] and [/pre] tags to know where the outputted text begins and ends and for some reason there is now a [/pre] right after the first sentence which is why it is cutting off so I had to tell it to ignore that one.
Cheers,
Rowan.
Hi,
Firstly congratulations on producing a great application however I have had continuos unsucessful attempts at submitting a domestic flight plan through your application. All entries are correct however it continues time after time to state there are 15 errors.
A couple of my clients have experienced the same problem on their iphone’s too.
I recently upgraded to the latest version with still no improvement.
The ability to access all other areas on the application have been successful. Your advice and input would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Dan.
Hi Dan – I know exactly your problem: you are missing out the route details.
Even if you are going direct YABC to YDEF, you still need to put in your ‘Route Description’ something like:
DCT DEF
DCT
(where DEF is the navaid identifier for YDEF. You could also probably use YDEF).
Fabulous – Thank you !
Hi,
I have a problem when I do a multistage plan. Thought I must have been doing something wrong but another user also complained about the same thing so thought I would chase it up with you.
Basically, when I insert a stage then click stage 2 I get presented with a complete new blank form to fill.
The basic NAIPS on my desktop fills all the non-changing details in for me such as aircraft details, departure airport (assumed to be the one you landed at in the first leg) etc all derived from the first stage.
Should my iphone app do that as well or is there a problem with my execution of the app?
No it doesn’t do that – but it’s a very good idea I might write in
I really need NAIPS for an HTC desire. Accordingly are you planning on releasing a system for Android phones?
regards,
Merlyn
Hi Merlyn – nope I don’t know how to program for the Android OS and I don’t have time unfortuantely.
There is a guy on pprune.org (username WannaBeBiggles) that is looking at it and I’ve provided him all the technical info on how to do it.
Cheers,
Rowan.
